THE MONEY-TREE MYTH - why is it called the money tree?
A very similar plant has the latin name of cotyledon argentea. Argent ,in french, is MONEY. In the USA crassula ovata is named the 'silver-dollar plant' because fallen, decaying, rounded leaves take on a silvery colour and look like american money. For years there has been a folklore tale of passing a piece of plant to a friend which will give them good luck and wealth with money for as long as the plant lives.
Or simply...owning one gives the owner good luck with money.
CRASSULA OVATA IS ALSO CALLED THE JADE TREE - QUITE SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE LEAF COLOUR ...'jade' named after a stone!!!!! confusing eh?

TIPS: Slow growing and easy to prune once a year…simply 'snip' off the extremities each spring (after flowering) with scissors. Try to retain its original shape as you do this, allowing for about 1-2cm of extra growth each year (after pruning). You must be ruthless and prune yearly or the 'bonsai' shape and proportions will be lost. Grow some more little trees from these cuttings or give them to friends.
NO root pruning is required. Little watering is needed when planted in the ground (just once to establish and help to anchor the plant)
NOTE: For BONSAI CULTURE - Plant in a heavy bonsai-pot (not supplied) upon receipt and repot every 5 years into a larger pot. Keep dry over winter. Full guide with order.
Delivered in a sturdy box ... the price you see is the delivered price *(or collect from Coin at 50% discount - see Terms and Conditions).
